An inhibitor of G protein βγ subunit-dependent signaling; binds to Gβ1γ2 in a cell-free assay (IC50 = 200 nM); inhibits Gβγ-dependent activation of PI3K in HL-60 cells; inhibits fMLP-induced Rac1 activation, superoxide production, and chemotaxis in differentiated HL-60 cells; increases survival, reduces ventricular hypertrophy, and attenuates cardiac remodeling in a mouse model of TAC-induced heart failure at 10 mg/kg per day
